STORM WARNING ADVISORY

Kia ora tatou,

While many of us are still cleaning up from the floods of January 27th, we are keeping a close eye on the updates with regard to Cyclone Gabrielle.  The tenor of the forecasts we are monitoring is tending more towards the likelihood of the storm coming our way on Monday or Tuesday of next week.  Accordingly, we thought it might be useful to provide some advice to assist your preparation for the possibility of further bad weather.

Auckland Emergency Management has asked Aucklanders to assist with readiness by ensuring that kerbs and drain inlets on and around properties are clear before Sunday evening.  That particularly applies to loose items of debris or flood damaged items piled up on kerbs; these can be moved by flood waters to block drains and cause new floods.  As high winds are expected, remove or secure loose items on balconies including BBQs, umbrellas & outdoor furniture now.

Please keep an eye on notifications and updates from Auckland Emergency Management (AEM) website, especially as the situation develops.

The Get Ready website provides useful material on how to prepare in advance for a civil defence emergency, including the sort of supplies (food, water, medication, etc) to consider holding in advance.  Talk to your family / whanau and neighbours and plan ahead.

For all our clients, where life & limb are under threat or for any form of emergency response please contact emergency services in the first instance.

  • Where life is in danger, call emergency services on 111.

  • For urgent flooding issues and assistance call AEM on 0800 22 22 00
